Brother HL3040/3070, MFC9120/9220/9320 toner reset.

For Brother HL3040/3070 printer, the procedure to reset the toner level:

Open the front cover that gives you access to the toners.

  1. 2. Press and hold “Secure Print” and “Cancel” at the same time. You will see “K-TNR-STD” display on the screen.
  2. Using the “+” and “-” buttons select the toner you want to reset.
  3. 4. Press the “Ok” button.
  4. 5. It will display “Ok?” and hit the “Ok” button again to reset the toner.
  5. 6. Close the lid.
    All done!

For Brother MFC models, the procedure to reset the toner level:

  1. Open the front cover so you can se the drum units.
  2. Press Clear/Back a few times and you should see a menu from where you can reset the counters.
  3. Choose the color you want to reset and press OK.
  4. Close the front cover, done.

Solution

Resetting the photoconductor page count.

WARNING! The “84 Replace (PC) Photoconductor” message is posted when the PC unit reaches is maximum usable life. It is important that you install a new PC unit at this time, before you clear the “Replace PC Kit” message. Failure to do so will result in poor print quality and/or damage to the printer.

Step Action
1 With the printer powered on, open the front door/cover.

 

2 Press and hold the cancel button () until all the lights flash. This indicates that the photoconductor page count has been reset.

 

3 Release the button and close the front door/cover.

 

4 If this does not clear the PC Life Warning or Replace Photoconductor message, power off the printer and attempt this procedure again from Step 1. If the error remains after two attempts, confirm that:

  • The correct photoconductor unit is installed. The part number on the photoconductor unit should be E250X22G. If it is not, install the correct photoconductor unit into the printer.
  • The photoconductor unit has not been refurbished by a third party and is not damaged in any way. If the photoconductor unit was refurbished by a third party or appears to be damaged, try replacing it before seeking service on the printer.
