For HL printers:

- Press and hold the “GO” button until all lights are lit;
- Once all light are lit, release the “GO” button and close the front door;
- Make sure the drum light is off;
- The counter is reset.
For MFC, DCP multiple function machines:

I have followed the reset proceedure for HL2135W without success.
When front cover is open and go held down all lights are green except for the error light which is orange.
After the front cover is closed Toner light flashes
Reset procedure worked for me on my MFC-7360N printer using a drum and toner from Ebay that was not from Brother!
DCP reset worked fine for me. Thanks. Oh BTW my yes was arrow up and no arrow down but it said that on the display.
Worked as described on MFC 7360n opened door pressed clear button 1 yes and pressed enter button -> drum reset.
I am having the same problem as Jim – I have an MFC8710DW printer I have installed a new Brothers cartridge and followed all the instructions including the press 1 to reset counter. It keeps telling me to install a new cartridge and the counter is over 5000 copies and won’t reset.
How do you reset the drum count for a Brothers HL-2280DW laser printer? There is no green or white button and no LED lights. the drum number is DDR-420

HELP
You need to open the front door first.
Easier than digging out the manual and looking it up there.
Worked like a charm on my HL 2270DW.
I have an MFC-9320-CW multiple function machine. Looked for “GO” button, no where on left side.
Door was open. Replacing New Drums & Cartridges. This is the first time changes Drums have changed cartridge many times.
HELP!
Hello, and useful thread here, glad I found it…
I have a Brother DCPL-2540LW Printer and have a question.
Does this procedure also make an existing drum last longer? If not, is there another process to make an existing drum last longer (or otherwise put off having to replace it)?
I am getting the “change drum soon” (or similar) indicator.
Thank you all,
Sam
I just replaced the Drum DN-420. The machine still says “Replace Drum” but prints. There is no green button on the MFC-7360N. Where do re-set machine?
Thank you. You added years to my “work horse” Brothers printer.
no go button. not buying your stuff when the docs are totally wrong.
LED as shown below will continue to be on or flash if the drum counter was not reset when you replace the drum unit with a new one. NOTE: Illustrations shown below are from a representative product and may differ from your Brother machine.
Love watching Sun !
